TharnType (BL) (T)

Image
TharnType Honestly, this show is so popular and recommended but it took me several tries and many many months to finally get my way through it..... That being said, I think I liked it? CW/TW: mentions of child sexual abuse, rape, toxic/abusive relationships.

Until We Meet Again (BL) (T)

Image
This drama was h e a v y but it was sooooooo good and I loved all the couples in it (although I need more than WinTeam crumbs omg). The story got dark (started dark) but there was absolutely so much LOVE in it. You could feel the caring between the characters and it was very emotional. LOVED IT.  TRIGGER/CONTENT WARNING: Mentions of suicide (also depicted in the drama).

Semantic Error (BL)

This drama was SO CUTE.  Korean BL dramas just keep getting better and better...

Secret Royal Inspector & Joy

Image
The heroes in this story are some of the most pure characters ever. They are wonderful and I want to be friends with them all! This show was a fun, feminist romp that packs emotional punches without dragging you down too heavily. So enjoyable!

Lovely Writer: The Series (BL) (T)

Image
This series is just so hard to put into the words that I want to. It was an absolutely transcendental BL series. The story was a strong commentary on the world of BL, all while delivering one the THE BEST BL partnerships I have ever seen portrayed. Honestly, standing ovation for the writer, the entire production, and Up and Kao for bring Gene and Sib to life in such a beautiful and moving (and lovely) way.

Spotlight: Gong Yoo

GONG. YOO. And no, I didn't just discover his glorious face in Squid Games, although that was a treat of a cameo.

My Beautiful Man (BL) (J)

Image
Short and sweet, this was a cute bite-size drama about a beautiful man and his "creepy" stalker --- don't worry - he was joking. Kind of.

I mean, has there ever been a better ship name than GuitarxSolo?

Introverted Boss; My Shy Boss

Image
Introverted Boss stood out for me for a few reasons, but only a few. Those reasons were kind of great however, and the show ended much stronger than it began. Overall, the drama was a little too angsty yet mild for my taste.  BTW - the soundtrack has some great tracks - check it out.  TW/CW: Self-harm, suicide, social anxiety.

Dali and Cocky Prince

Image
Dali and Cocky Prince was cute... Overall... fine? I can't quite place my finger on it, but something about this drama was lacking. It was cute and fairly light, but not something I would really recommend in general.

Absolute Boyfriend

Image
Ok so....ngl This drama was ABSOLUTEly more fun than I thought it was going to be.

Lovers of the Red Sky

Image
I have to admit I wanted to love Lovers of the Red Sky more than I did... That being said, it was an enjoyable paranormal periodic romance.

She Was Pretty

Image
She Was Pretty is such a cute and fun drama!

While You Were Sleeping

I couldn't help myself... I just couldn't stay away from another Lee Jong-Suk drama....  One comment from my wife: "They talk a lot about poop in this one."

My Holo Love

Image
My  Holo Love is a lukewarm drama  - and I don't mean that in a negative way. It felt like a watered down version of a few other dramas I have seen - and again, I don't mean that in a negative way. This story was a romantic drama that doesn't need you to be too invested for it to be enjoyable. I wasn't scrambling to get to the next episode, but I was also fine with just letting the episodes keep playing. Netflix has it listed as a "limited series", but I feel like they could have shaved off 3-4 episodes at least and it would have been fine. The storyline was full of tropes (this is part of why we watch them) but a lot of the dramatic points were much more dramatic than they needed to be and were too drawn out.  The basic plot of the drama revolves around a young woman named So-Yeon, who suffers from face blindness, and a young software developer who has the first successful AI, named Holo (because he appears as a holograph, get it? Love it.) Nan-Do, the develo...

Spotlight: Park Seo-Joon

Image
Park Seo-Joon (12/16/1998) This man is not a national treasure. He is a global - dare I say universal - treasure.  His acting range is phenomenal, and I feel confident saying that after only seeing a handful of his dramas. He can carry a comedy extremely well, and can absolutely break your heart the next moment.  There's a scene in Fight My Way where he is trying to laugh something off while holding back tears and he plays it so naturally. He is just so utterly charming it's unbelievable.  On top of this massive acting talent is his singing! His voice is soothing like a nice warm hug and it's always a treat to hear him on an OST. Be warned though, you will probably cry.  AND he's handsome. So handsome. Can't forget about that (how could you?). He is definitely someone I will hold dear to me for quite some time and I sincerely look forward to catching up on his past works and well as waiting for the future ones.  (It's also heartwarming t...

Meow: The Secret Boy; Welcome - ★

Image
MEOW... THE SECRET BOY..... OMG This drama is super super cute and a nice and lightly refreshing way to cope with 2020. First things first, we need to talk about the elephant in the room. Or the cat in the room, whichever you prefer. Yes, this is a story about a girl who falls in love with her cat. Deal with it. Don't make it weird. ****** Spoilers******* This is the story of graphic designer Kim Sol-A (played by the adorable Shin Ye-Eun ). She's not a cat person. Not in the least. Despite this, she always seems to find herself surrounded by "cats", including the boy she's been crushing on for a decade. Lee Jae-Sun (played by the sweet and shy-seeming Seo Ji-Hoon ) holds all his cards close to his chest (and he also just happens to be allergic to cats). He seems to reciprocate the feelings that the innocently sincere Sol-A has for him, but you can tell he has a hard time expressing himself. One day they plan to meet and it seems like they maybe will progr...
