Oxygen: The Series (BL) (T)

 

I mean, has there ever been a better ship name than GuitarxSolo?

This show was super cute and fairly light (mostly drama free). I really enjoyed all the couples, and just for my own sanity, I'll mostly tackle the couples separately here: 

Gui (Petch Chanapoom Thenwong) is our orphaned Engineering student. He's super kind to everyone, which leads to some misunderstandings/insecurities with Solo (Nut Supanut Lourhaphanich), a super rich freshman music student. Solo is EMO but has a good reason to be sad, because his mom died when he was little and his father is very cold, distant, and busy running his company. Solo has trouble sleeping, which is how he runs into Gui (who he nicknames Guitar), who works at a café (called Thirsty omg). So Gui makes him warm milk instead of the requested coffee, and Solo's little heart is so happy that he keeps coming back for more milk (and Gui). The two form a cute bond, with Solo singing love songs starring directly at him like, boy, did you get the hint???? The rocks thrown at them are this annoying guy trying to snatch Gui (nice try) and then a FIANCEE for Solo from his dad's company. The dad has a whole moment about "you're not good enough for my son" and Gui is like "Ha, funny joke" then he SHOWS him. He battles the fiancee, Linda, who is actually pretty cool. Things get intense when Solo tries a hunger strike when his dad keeps him from seeing Gui. I was like, please no Meteor Garden moments.... but luckily Gui runs away with him as far as a gas station and is like, Dude, this is ridiculous. Then you find out that the dad is actually rooting for them, he just wanted to make sure they were a good match (he still seems like an asshole to me but whatevs). Gui and Solo are happy and in each others' arms, as their friend awkwardly sits on the side pining for his own boy. Which takes me to: 

Kao (Boss Thanabat Ngamkamolchai), who is Solo's good buddy and a super adorable and cheerful guy. He becomes enthralled with Phuri (Phu Phubeth Tharathonchanakul), who is Solo's cousin. Phu is a loner, and the entire campus is terrified of him because he apparantly "punched a guy to death", which of course is a rumor that got a little out of hand. Kao follows him everyone and Phu starts calling him "bunny" which is super cute and not a nickname you would think he would pick. Kao hates it, because he doesn't like bunnies (what kind of monster doesn't like bunnies?) but then he finds out that bunnies are Phu's favorite thing (besides his brother). Kao and Phu have more of a slow burn romance, but it feels very genuine. Phu has a much harder time opening up but luckily Kao is very persistent and sincere. Eventually, Phu starts to warm up and open his heart more, although he still covers Kao's eyes whenever he smiles because he's embarrassed. Hella cute. I really like this couple, and I hope there is another season where I can see more of them!

Now, on to the last, pretty complicated couple: 

Khim (Natty Thanyanan Pipatchaisiri) works at Thirsty, with Gui, and she is OBSESSED with BL. Same, except I don't post pictures online of random couples I see in public (not cool, Khim). Khim becomes entrigued by these doctors, Dr. Petch (Kun Kunchanuj Kengkarnka) and Dr. Perth (Yuuki Durongsang), and she is convinced they are IN LOVE. Dr. Petch is like, no way, and she teaches him about the clues that he is into someone and someone is into him. Dr. Perth IS actually into Dr. Petch, but Dr. Petch finds out that he is actually into Khim! Things get complicated when they find out Khim has COPD and might die without treatment. Her slacker brother Khem (Fourwheels Chayanond Boonmanawong) is always gaming and doesn't seem to care, until Dr. Petch finds him and is like YOUR SISTER WILL DIE. Then, to boost her morale, Dr. Petch panics and tells Khim that he does like guys, after all! She is delighted, and now Dr. Petch has to come up with a fake boyfriend to show her evidence. Dr. Perth is like "Not using me as a prop, dude" and I 100% agree. Dr. Petch is completely oblivious that his friend does actually have feelings, and using him as a fake boyfriend is just mean. Then, Khem starts to have feelings for Dr. Petch, but then one night he sees Dr. Petch kiss Khim! Everyone is flipping out, but Dr. Petch explains to Khim that he lied and that he actually liked her all along. Eventually she forgives him, and then Dr. Perth is like, hey Khem, what's that game you're playing and I was like ohhhh shit here we go! So it all worked out in the end!

Oh, and Solo's dad adopted this kid Moon from the orphanage where Gui grew up, it's a whole thing, so YAY happy family!

Quick shoutout to the character named Jedi, because that's an awesome name. 

Very cute show! I hope there is more content from this story!
