Dali and Cocky Prince
Dali and Cocky Prince was cute... Overall... fine?
I can't quite place my finger on it, but something about this drama was lacking. It was cute and fairly light, but not something I would really recommend in general.
Kim Da-Li (Park Gyu-Young) is an artistic person who works doing research at an art museum. She generally has her head in the clouds. One day, she meets self-made business man Jin Moo-Hak (Kim Min-Jae). He knows everything there is about pigs. Art, not so much.
An accidental meeting and some very cute flirting shifts gears when Da-Li's wealthy father suddenly dies, leaving her his art museum in Korea, as well as a mountain of debt. Now Da-Li finds herself (majorly) in debt with penny-pinching Moo-Hak.
Over the series, they begin to bond and see each other differently, having expanded each other's worlds a little bit. Despite their differences, he makes her laugh and they genuinely begin to care about each other. Da-Li's ex, Jang Tae-Jin (Kwon Yool) obviously doesn't take this too well and begins plotting to make Da-Li his again. Honestly, though, F that guy, he sucks.
Da-Li's adopted brother (and Moo-Tak's tenant) Joo Won-Tak (Hwang Hee) finds himself involved in everyone's problems as well, since apparently her dad may have been involved in some pretty heavy drug smuggling, which might be why he died.
The plot gets a little nutty, with family drama and work drama not even letting these guys breath. I have to say, I'm not a super fan of the creditor/debtor thing, although sometimes it works. That being said, the relationship that blooms with the leads seems fairly natural and the actors definitely seemed to have some cute chemistry.
I don't quite get art, but there was tons of that to impress, as well as the outfits! Omg some of the clothes were amazing and some were just too far out there for me. The music was cute, but like I said, it mostly left me luke-warm. The ending was cute.
I was at least happy to see Park Gyu-Young in a lead role, instead of relegated to second-lead, where I have seen her a few times. Kim Min-Jae was delightfully adorable, although there were times his makeup was on his stubble and it was driving me crazy. Could have been worse though. Kwon Yool played a great character and Hwang Hee definitely had me crushing on him, so I will be on the look-out for more from him.
Hwang Bo-Ra cracked me up as Moo-Hak's secretary Yeo Mi-Ri. She was always wearing suits and ties and was great comic relief. I always like to see her face.
The best side character who had a lot of growth in the series was Na Gong-Joo (Song Ji-Won). There were some heartfelt moments throughout the series and a lot of grief to process, and this character's journey in particular hit me in the feels.
Cute!
