Love by Chance 2: A Chance to Love (BL) (T)

This sequel/redo of Love by Chance was actually.... not bad. I mean it was a mess at times, but if you are here for TinCan then you are in the right place...

Once again, I will not be delving into the drama about the cast, I don't know enough and you can look it up yourself.

So this series is a sequel to Love by Chance, which left off with Tin asking Can to be his boyfriend and Can asking to remain friends. Except when this one starts.... none of that happened.

It's clearly still a sequel, only it seems like time has moved on for some characters, but for Tin and Can it is a new start. Literally. They don't know each other and they meet again. So you see some of the scenes redone, but honestly, they came off better this time around in some ways.

You get to fall in love with Tin falling in love with Can all over again, except this time you get the whole trajectory of their relationship. Tin has a lot of issues, which the actor handled very well, I thought. You really feel pity for this boy and how unloved he is. Can is 100% perfect for him and exactly what he needs. It was nice seeing them bond again and take their relationship further.

In this series, you get more into Tin's relationship with his evil brother, who confuses the hell out of me as a character. Like, is he just a bastard or what? It seems like he is doing something to help Tin, except his methods are maniacal. At least Tin has Can, who always is on his side only, and is willing to whip his older brother's ass. It was super cute how protective Can and Tin were of each other and the level of affection and trust they had. They clear up the misunderstandings with the useless dad who should be called Jon Snow because he knows nothing, and Tin even does the kindly service of reuniting his shitty brother with his one true love, or whatever.

Ae, on the other hand, is going through his emo phase. Which sucks, but his hair is kind of a good look for him. They had to find some reason for Pete to not be there, which I am kind of glad they didn't try and recast. Plus it adds some story elements. It's not super clear why they broke up, other than Pete left to study somewhere else. So Ae is falling apart, but luckily he has his wonderful friend Pond to help him. Seriously, that dude is the best. Ae's character goes through a lot of changes and growth, and it seems like he is just waiting for the day he and Pete can be together again. Why they didn't just try LD is beyond me, but what do I know?

We also got a little more into Techno and his weird relationship with Kengkla. I'm still not super on board with these two, honestly. I mean, Techno is adorable, but Kengkla's tactics shouldn't be brushed aside so lightly, imo. Plus the age gap at this stage of their lives is still a little weird to me. I mean, Kengkla basically hovers around Techno the whole series, and I mean, some of it is cute within the realms of fiction but wow.

Overall, this series was entertaining to watch, and I was living for the TinCan action. Can (besides Pond) is honestly one of the best characters ever. He's very sweet and funny, and without him this series would not have been nearly as watchable. As naïve and childish as he acts, he is actually pretty mature and thoughtful. He carries more on his shoulders than the other characters realize and it's so sweet to see how much he loves and cares for Tin and how open he is to letting Tin know just how much he is loved. Seriously, it's so sweet. Tin tries to act mature, but he has a lot of growing to do, but luckily he has a pretty great person holding his hand.
